Rise Of The Phoenix / Untold Lives / Double Happiness, One Hundred Sorrows (1992)
Production
Company director Hsueh-Tung Chen premiered a new company work "Double Happiness, One Hundred Sorrows," also performed along with Chen's 1990 "Rise of the Phoenix", set to a commissioned score by Bradley Kaus, with costumes by Sylvia Taalsohn. Completing the program is Ruby Shang's "Untold Lives", a dramatic work inspired by images of women in Chinese history, folklore and literature. Set to an original score by Eric Johnson, "Untold Lives" was specially commissioned by Chen & Dancers for their 1989 New York season.
