In "The Golden Bird," a work of Commedia Dell' Arte, the actors don an assortment of masks and commedia costumes to create Gozzi's fantastical kingdom of Monterotondo. Statues talk, mansions appear out of thin air, humans are transformed into animals, apple trees sing and magical waters dance. Translated by Albert
