Story Of Dou-E, The / Snow In June
Work
"The Story of Dou-E/Snow in June" is a modern version by the Yangtze Repertory Theatre of America of a 13th-century drama of injustice and cruelty by China's great playwright Guan (Kuan) Han-Qing. Mixing Peking opera and modern staging techniques, the production--combining English and Mandarin Chinese--is a tragic tale of injustice and cruelty: a 20 year-old widow who is wrongly executed, with full knowledge of her townspeople, for a crime she did not commit.
