Point Of Debarkation
Work
"Point of Debarkation"' charts the experiences of a troupe of Jewish puppeteers, exiled from Spain during the sixteenth century, as they travel to a seemingly deserted Caribbean island. Accompanied by their puppets and their Asian/African slave/puppet manipulators, the group must face the creation of the "New World" armed only with Old World European customs. In this new environment, mini revolutions brew as. the slaves plot to overthrow their masters. The puppets, who have secret lives of their own, do the same. The personal histories and concerns of each group become a blur as each strives to detach itself from the
others. The different cultures are presented as incongruous pieces to a puzzle which, because of intervening time, cannot be pulled apart.
