Video Work: Documentation of "The Only Jealousy of Emer" (1972)

This video documents the ETC Company’s 1972 production of "The Only Jealousy of Emer" at La MaMa Experimental Theatre Club. The play is Wilford Leach and John Braswell’s adaptation of the fifth piece in W.B. Yeats’ cycle of ‘dancer-plays’ about the legendary Irish king, Cuchulain. It comprised part of the ETC Company’s first 5-Play Repertory, which also included productions of ”Carmilla, “Gertrude,” “Demon, and “Renard.”  This video was originally shot using a Portapak camera, and camera originals are spread across two separate half-inch open reels (numbered B59a and B59b in La MaMa’s collection).
