Video Work: Documentation of "Pierre, or the Ambiguities" (1974)

Audio/Visual

This video documents the 1974 La MaMa Experimental Theatre Club production of “Pierre, or, the Ambiguities”. The production, based on Herman Melville’s 1852 novel, was directed by Walter Leyden Brown. The production was presented by Cellar Forty-Seven, with music by Calvin Hampton. Prior to the production, Ellen Stewart gives a short welcome and introduction. This video was originally shot using a Portapak camera, and camera originals are spread across two separate half-inch open reels (numbered D33 and D34 in La MaMa’s collection).
