Jack Hopper
John "Jack" Hopper was born in Philadelphia. He graduated from Muhlenberg College in 1956, was drafted into the U.S. Army and sent to Paris, where he remained for five years as a freelance writer. After publishing his first volume of poetry, "Miscellany", Hopper moved to New York City to work as a freelance writer and journalist, writing for Time magazine among others. In 1966 Hopper became the editor-in-chief of the scholarly publishing and reprint house AMS Press, where he remained until 2005.
