David Starkweather

David Starkweather was born on Sept 11, 1935 in Madison, Wisconsin. He received a B.A. in Speech from the University of Wisconsin in 1957 and moved to New York shortly thereafter. He was affiliated with Caffe Cino from its early years and both wrote and directed several works produced at the Cino. By the mid-1960s, he was also writing plays produced or workshopped at La Mama and Circle Repertory Theatre and the Manhattan Theatre Club, all places where many other Cino alums also found creative homes. Starkweather was also editor of the New York Visitor’s Reporter in the 1970s. He died on May 25, 2017.
