From the "Program for 'Krapp's Last Tape' (1963)": "John Allen first began acting with serious intent, while in the Army, with the Fort Meade Players. Mr. Allen served in the Korean conflict and was awarded a Bronze Star. His picture was the picture of the year in 1950 and was used on magazine covers and recruiting posters. He was a member of the resident company of St. Louis's Goldenrod Showboat for a year, where he played a variety of roles, and is a graduate of The Neighborhood Playhouse School of Theatre. Mr. Allen has done three Off-Broadway shows and many seasons of Summer Stock. This is his first appearance at the Cafe La MaMa Experimental Theatre in what he calls 'a change of pace role' for him.
