Antistasi/Resistance
Work, WORK.1980.0036
"Antistasi is the Greek word for resistance. This dance is about a resistance struggle in 1803 in Suli, a region in northern Greece...This dance focuses on the last resistance of [Suli] women and children, who... working themselves into a frenzy of defiance, began to sing and dance traditional Suliot dances. Ever increasing in pace and fervor, they gradually drew nearer to the edge of the cliff. With a final cry of triumph, they threw themselves over the edge." ;--Program: "Theatrika: 'He Who Must Die' and 'Antistasi/Resistance'" (1980) [OBJ.1980.0169];
