Prose of the Transsiberian and of the Little Joan of France, The (2001)
Production
"Prose of the Transsiberian and of the Little Joan of France," premiered as a new work at La MaMa, created by Vit Horej§ and the Czechoslovak-American Marionette Theatre (CAMT). It is based on the 1913 poem in prose, "La Prose du Transsiterien et de la Pettite Jehanne de France" by Blaise Cendrars, about his adventurous travel on the Transsiberian railroad in 1905. The production was oriented toward an adult audience, with a separate show titled "Travels with Old Nick" for children taking place during the Saturday matinee time slot. Throughout the run there was an exhibit in La MaMa's Annex Theater lobby curated by Isabelle Dupuis of lithographs, designs and puppets by Jakub "Kuba" Krejci and other collaborators of CAMT: Michelle Beshaw, Luiz Castro, Tine Kindermann, Theresa Linnihan and Beatrix Piesh.
