Dual Solitudes (2000)
Production
"Dual Solitudes is an Israeli-Palestinian theatrical dialogue consisting of poetry and music about love, death, war, and peace performed in English, Arabic, and Hebrew. The play is drawn from an anthology of thirty poems, half in Hebrew and half in Arabic. During the performance, the audience is not informed whether the poet is Arab or Israeli, but the universal pain is understood. In translations, the distinctions between Arabic and Hebrew fall away: the English-speaking audience will not detect any difference between Palestinian and Israeli suffering."
