Charles M. Byrd & Byrd's Idea!: An 18-Piece Jazz Orchestra (1994)
Arranger, composer and saxophonist Charles M. Byrd led his 18-piece jazz band, Byrd's Idea!, in a one-night-only concert of nine pieces by Byrd. The concert featured a major work inspired by Duke Ellington, "Ducal Musings, w/ Prayer" as well as other pieces that may be called experimental by some. The band also played "One for Willie" and "Blowtorch," in which the purpose is to swing as hard as humanly possible.
