If This Ain't It! (Disaster On Parade) -- A Devastated Musical Revue (1993)
This performance marks the La MaMa return of two members of its original E.T.C. Company, Donald Arrington and Camille Tibaldeo, who together played the bench in Wilford Leach's memorable Carmela in 1970. An earlier version of this revue was brought to the WPA in 1975: it was a story of an urban depression when our current depression was only a hypothetical possibility. The show was a smash; now it's re-worked to add the overlay of homelessness. But the theme is the same: to get past apathy, show compassion, and you can fly out of the blues by getting sick of them.
The set is a picture of urban street life by Arrington and B. Y. Inouye. It is a minimalist combination of comic-book style and found object.
Special thanks to Mark Brimijoin for designing our flyer in 1975 and for the hours of work to update it for 1993.
