Under the Knife III (1996)
Production
This final version takes place throughout the space, the upstairs lobby of the Annex was transformed in to a dark space with twelve seated figures, each 30 inches high and precisely lit, with adjoining benches and headphones. Audience members could select which "characters" they want to visit and put on the headphones to hear testimonies on medicine through the ages. Inside the theatre, the production feature scores of puppets, live music, eleven actors, four puppeteers, video and film. The audience walks from scene to scene. Due to the environmental nature of the show, each performance's audience is limited to 50 participants.
