"Tubes" (1991b)
Production
Tubes was first performed at The Club at La MaMa in January of 1991 and would be extended into February due to sold out shows and high demand. After this run at La MaMa, the performance moved to The Astor Place Theater in November of 1991. Designed as a "theatrical happening" that Blue Man descibed as "ancient rituals made with modern ingredients", Tubes included paint, percussion, large installations, film elements and audience participation. This was the first of Blue Man's "happenings" that was performed inside.
